As more pipework arrives, the tedious work begins of voicing. Today Eric is trimming pipes to length and voicing for volume, balance, etc.
Flooring is nearing completion
Prefinished flooring has made its way around the organ. The rear pedal pipes lining the back wall await their programming, voicing and tuning in the coming weeks.
Wiring
Moveable console has three location boxes. Lots of wiring, stretching the length of the Cathedral!
Hope for the future
The future is bright for new and young organists! We simply need to provide opportunity for training, adequate practice time, and support for them!
New Ulm's installation will have youth programs integrated into its offerings. She'll reach those pedals soon!
Pedal case install
More pipes and casework were delivered today. The pedal "towers" are being installed, two windchests per side.
Joe, Paul and Dale at work.
Windchests and beautiful woodwork in place.
Choir risers
As with most of the organ, the project has been primarily handmade, rather than store bought. The choir risers have taken shape, made from I-beam joists and traditional construction materials.
The risers are moveable, to allow reconfiguration of the loft and console. They are covered with the same flooring and finished with a cinnamon stairnose for safety and design. Three down, five to go!
Pedal case taking shape
Pedal case sides are being installed around the pedal windchests. The 4' Schalmei has been refitted with shiny new brass resonators.
Pedal work
The 8' Principal in the pedal is being fit in the shop, along with work on the pedal towers.
Flooring
Flooring is going in in the choir loft. The maple color contrasts well with the walnut and oak console.
